Cardinals’ 9-run inning highlights offense-heavy day in MLB

If you enjoy home runs and offense, Sunday was a great day to followMajor League Baseball.Teams throughout the league put up some crooked numbers on the scoreboard, as the day epitomized theoffensive explosionin the game this year. In Cincinnati,Jose Martinez hit his first career grand slam to key a nine-run fourth inning that powered the Cardinals to a 13-4 victory over the Reds. The Orioles poundedfive home runs and had 17 hits in a 12-3 victory over the Tigers. The Angels racked up 10 runs at home against the Athletics only to watch the A’s scorefive runs in the eighth to win an 11-10 slugfest. The Mariners and Royals combined for six home runs, two from Nelson Cruz, in an 8-7 Seattle win. (The Royals got even with a 9-1 win in the second game of the doubleheader.) Matt Wieters hit a grand slam and drove in five runs in the Nationals’ 9-4win over the Cubs. Many of the usual suspects went yard Sunday. Mike Trout homered for the Angels. Cody Bellinger hit No. 32 https://www.redsedges.com/cincinnati-reds/homer-bailey-jersey in the Dodgers’ 8-0 victory over the Mets. And of course Aaron Judge had a hand in the Yankees’ 8-1 win over the Indians, cranking a three-run home run (No. 35 this year).Everyone from players to fans wonder: Is the ball juiced this year? Are hitters just suddenly naturally better and stronger the past couple of years? Whatever the reason(s) behind the offensive explosion this year, it shows no sign of slowing down. According to ESPN Stats and Information, therehad been 4,131 home runs in the majors this year entering Sunday. Roughly two-thirds of the way through the season, that’s on pace to smashthe single-seasonrecord of5,693 home runs set in 2000.Studs of the NightOrioles slugger Manny Machado went 4 for 5 with a homerand five RBIs in the win over Detroit. After a slow start to the season, Machado has hit .346 since the end of June. TheO’s have won seven of their last 10 and are just 2 1/2 gamesout in the crowded American League wild-card race.On a day when hitters reigned supreme, Royals right-hander Jake Junis stood out in the pitching ranks. He yielded Cliff Pennington Jersey only one run in eight innings, giving up only four hits and striking out seven. Kudos also to Brewers right-hander Jimmy Nelson, who struck out nine and allowed just one earned run while taking a no-decision in Milwaukee’s 2-1 win at Tampa Bay.Dud of the NightReds starter Homer Bailey put up a rare triple-double never a good thing for a pitcher by yielding 10 hits, 10 runs and 10 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings in a 13-4 lo s to the Cardinals.HighlightsSean Rodriguez, playing his first game for the Pirates since they reacquired him from the Braves in a trade Saturday, had a storybook return to PNC Park with an extra-inning walk-off homer to beat the Padres in 12 innings. That time @SeanJRodriguez1 had @gbrowniepoints in disbelief. #Serpico #BrownieCalls pic.twitter.com/Mpb47seCWo Pirates (@Pirates) August 7, 2017Sound the horn for Steven Souza’s walk-off shot to beat the Brewers.Walk-off hit No. 1 for @SouzaJr…Not bad! #RaysWin pic.twitter.com/sJCUYrtEUS Tampa Bay Rays (@RaysBaseball) August 6, 2017What’s NextOrioles (55-56) at Angels(55-57) 10:07p.m. ET Both teams are in the thick of the ALwild-card raceand can’t afford to lose https://www.redsedges.com/cincinnati-reds/joe-morgan-jersey xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg, xenical orlistat 60mg. ground to anotherteam in that crowded field.
